Clients Served & Therapeutic Approach

Clients Served
I work with individuals (18+), couples, and families who are ready to engage in the most important relationship they’ll ever have, the one with themselves.

Individuals
  • Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain, our work together will help uncover the obstacles in your way and perhaps more importantly, the defenders you've developed that may be blocking emotional engagement, trauma healing, relationship satisfaction, or freedom from maladaptive coping strategies.

Therapy with me is a collaborative process that centers your goals and supports your growth. You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Couples
  • Are you navigating a new chapter in your relationship? Perhaps moving in together, deepening commitment, starting a family? Or maybe you’re simply wanting to be heard and feel more emotionally connected to the person you love. Maybe conflict is showing up more than you would like.
  • Couples therapy is for all partnerships seeking more effective communication, deeper empathy, and a more authentic and meaningful bond.

These skills aren’t always taught and that’s okay. We can build them together.

How I Work with Couples:
When working with couples, I use a mix of approaches that help you better understand yourselves and each other, so you can connect more deeply and communicate with care.
  • AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) This approach helps uncover the real feelings underneath anger, shutdown, or conflict. Together, we slow things down to explore what’s really going on—often fear, sadness, or longing—and create space for emotional healing and connection.
  • IFS (Internal Family Systems) IFS helps each of you notice the different "parts" of yourselves that show up in the relationship—like the part that gets defensive, or the part that wants to run away. We work on understanding and softening those parts so you can respond from a calmer, more grounded place.
  • NVC (Nonviolent Communication) NVC is a simple, effective way to talk and listen. It helps you express your feelings and needs without blame—and helps you hear each other with more empathy and less reactivity.

By combining these approaches, we create a space where both partners feel heard, understood, and supported—so you can build the kind of relationship you both want.

Families
  • Family conflict is natura and painful. What most people want is to feel heard, understood, and connected again. Together, we’ll work to: Improve communication and reduce reactivity Practice nonviolent communication skills, explore emotional and attachment wounds, undo fear, hurt, resentment, and anger that may be keeping the family from closeness

Families can learn new ways of being together, rooted in compassion, clarity, and care.

Serving Clients Across Four States
  • I am licensed in Oregon, California, Washington, and Idaho, and offer: Telehealth sessions for individuals, couples, and families located in any of these states In-person sessions for clients located in Portland, Oregon (Alphabet District). Video consultations are available to assess fit for all family and couples work, and I welcome inquiries from diverse relationship structures and family systems.

Therapeutic Approach
  • You're not one-size-fits-all—and neither is my approach. I draw from a variety of evidence-based and trauma-informed models to meet your specific needs, including:
    • Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) – to process deep emotional wounds and build secure attachment
    • Internal Family Systems (IFS) – to compassionately explore the protective parts of you that formed in response to pain At the core of every session is a Client-Centered foundation
    • Mindfulness – to ground in the present and regulate the nervous system
    • Motivational Interviewing – to support change that’s driven by your own values and goals
    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – for increasing awareness of thought and behavior patterns

I offer genuineness, empathy, and unconditional positive regard—because you are the expert in your own life.

You set the direction. I’ll help guide the journey, recalculating as needed. Much like a GPS, you drive, I support.
